Over the last week, two things have happened that have made me ask myself the above question.
The first was being told that the belt had gone on the air conditioning in the car I was selling. Now I know nothing about cars, other than how to drive them, so knowing that I needed some kind of belt didn't really help me in any way.
Then yesterday, a guy at the gym came and told me he needed to know what his bodyfat percentage was. Once I'd measured it and told him, I asked him, "So what are you going to with that"?
Him: "What do you mean"?
Me: "Now you know your bodyfat percentage, what are you going to do with that information"?
And that's my point!
Far too often as trainers we get asked for information, when what people really need is education. Having knowledge is useless, without the skill to apply it effectively.
The aim of this website is to provide both information and the skill to apply it.
We'll cover exercise, health, nutrition and lifestyle and if you've got any particular requests, let us know.
Ultimately though, I'll still take my car to a mechanic to fix it. Because that's what they do. Just as I'd always advise anyone trying to get themselves fitter, leaner or healthier,to get a good trainer rather than trying to 'figure it out themselves', because that's what we do.
